Northampton Round Part 1 |
Harlestone Heath to Brampton Halt The first section of this exciting new venture(!) will start from Harlestone Heath car park on the A428, near Lower Harlestone and will include walking through woodland belonging to the Althorp Estate, over a golf course, through delightful Northamptonshire villages with traditional stone cottages, over farmland and along a disused railway track. Please bring a lunch although further refreshments will be available at Brampton Halt. |
Northampton Round Part 2 |
Brampton Halt to Pitsford Reservoir Bring refreshments although further supplies available at Brixworth Country park and then at Brampton Halt at the start and end of walk. Please note that large sections of this walk are on country roads, by-ways and tracks with only a small section over fields. Suitable for less experienced walkers. Walk can be shortened to 5 miles with a straightforward return section along a road which beginners could choose to take. Walking boots are recommended still, for ankle support on some uneven surfaces. |

Celbration Meal 08/09/2012
Finally, having completed a full 52 miles of the Northamptonshire Round, we are having a rest and a bevy or two. We'll deserve it. Plan may depend on numbers booking i.e. places may be limited by the venue we shall stay in Great Brington at one of our favourites, the Fox and Hounds or Althorp Coaching Inn as it also styles itself. Great venue, great atmosphere and gorgeous food. £10 deposit secures your place which then comes off your bill on the night. Start time around 6:30pm for the meal. |
Please note: 1) Where OS Grid references or postcodes are given for meet locations these are the nearest we could find but may not take you right to the spot especially if using car satnav so please read other directions carefully. 2) Spice East Midlands 10 Walks / Sports block bookings may be used for these walks. 3) These are proper walks so waterproofs and walking boots or other stout footwear are of course essential and drinks and snacks should also be taken as we cannot guarentee the availability of these until we finish the walk. Please note that jeans are not suitable as in wet weather they can become very uncomfortable. |
